Copper Mountain

Copper Mountain, Colorado, has long been known for its copper mining history. The Copper Mountain Mining District was established in 1874, and copper mining continued for over one hundred years until the 1980s. Today, Copper Mountain is a popular destination for skiing and other winter sports. Located in Summit County, Copper Mountain offers nearly 1,500 acres of skiing terrain and multiple lifts and trails for skiers and snowboarders of all levels. In addition to skiing, Copper Mountain also offers snowshoeing, tubing, ice skating, and other winter activities. While Copper Mountain may have evolved from a mining town to a winter destination, visitors can still see traces of its copper mining past with buildings and structures named after the mineral.
